;75692844]I do actually have the facebook conversation saved where I tell him where I am and say its going to be a problem getting car to him and hes answered:-
"Hi there yes we can take care of that for you. We could collect it on a trailer and bring it in so that isn't an issue either"
No mention of cost anywhere until I get the invoice. I even messaged him to thank him for collecting it. Bet he though yeh right you've just been charged £120!
Hes messaged me today to tell me- get car moved tomorrow or pay him ANOTHER £120 or hes going to dump it on the street.
First i want to clarify your not expecting the garage to have picked up your car, checked it over and give you a quote for the work to be done all for free?.
If your expecting that all for free then i'm not surprised he isn't very happy with you. The fair thing to do would be offer to pay a reasonable fee for picking up the car plus for the time he spent looking over the car to provide a quote (not a lot just offer to pay 15 minutes labour to recognise they spent some time on it).
That's fair for everyone and if he's reasonable he would accept that offer.0 -

No not at all. The bill was £230+ VAT which included £100 recovery fee.
Happy to pay for the work but should have been honest up front about the £100 to collect.0 -

Chalk it up to experience and check next time. We’ve all done similar!
In the past I've had garages pick up my mini for free and do work.
4 Weeks ago a garage collected my car via truck for free to do work on as well.
I've always been asked if theres a charge.0 -
How hard would it be for you to then ask how much it would cost?
Neither did I ask him if he charged double for work done or a Tuesday or ask if there was a surcharge for cars my colour....
I assumed a decent person would ensure all parties were aware of the terms of the agreement and not be deliberately vague.0
