Bank switch

I am trying to switch from another bank and Santander to RBS.
The first one worked but the second one didn't so I phoned both of them and they said it would work.
I then got a letter again saying that it didn't work.
I will phone again but has anyone else had the same?

  • What was the reason it “didn’t work”?

Difficult to say without a bit more info.

Which one worked the 'other' bank or Santander?
    Both switching to RBS?
Which bank was the letter from?
What reason did it give for failure?
The bank you're switching to is the one that is, in effect, running the process.

We will need more info to be able to help you here - can you provide more details about the exact bank and type of account you are trying to switch? Both the Santander and "other" banks, as well as details about the RBS account you are trying to switch to. Additionally any information about why they have failed that you have been provided would be helpful. As above, RBS is your primary port of call on this one since they are the one responsible for running the show with respect to the switch.

Without knowing for sure, my guess is that you are trying to switch accounts from your other banks that are not eligible for switching with CASS, or a switching to a RBS account that is not eligible for switching with CASS (eg. the RBS "One" account). Keep in mind that only current accounts can be switched using CASS - savings, off-set mortgage accounts, and anything else will not be eligible, even if for all intents and purposes they function as a current account.
  • Sorry I should have said it is from Santander 123 to RBS reward.

The reason for failure was just "Santander have not given us some information".
The annoying thing is that this is the second time and the first time I phoned up and they told me it was now fixed!!!!
