Gas metre move?!
Hi, we bought a cottage 18months ago, it’s on a busy road and we have limited parking. (You cannot safely park on the road). There are 2 parking spaces. We have two cars. The current gas metre is housed badly under one of the front room windows and in one of the parking spaces. The metre housing has clearly been driven over for years. I’m starting to feel concerned about this now. The wooden housing is almost destroyed and the metre is sunk into the ground. Who do I speak to about getting this moved? Is it likely they would help with the costs? Are there any legal implications? Any advice would be gratefully received. Thank you

gas meters are not usually in wooden housings. Anyway, it's your responsibility to provide space for the meter and not damage it. If you want a meter move you will have to pay. Contact your gas supplier to move it less than a metre, or your gas transporter if it needs to be moved more than a metre.

It will be cheaper to put a road standard manhole cover over it.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
