hi all.... hope im in the right place.
i have a currys prepaid cashback card from a tv in promotion i bought almost a year ago. i forgot to validate it within the 3 months of receiving it. the card is still in date but i cant use it or validate it now and have tried contacting currys but they say there is nothing they can do.
there terms on their website are :
"Cashback will be paid via Pre-paid MasterCard or directly into a nominated UK Bank Account. Where payment by Mastercard is selected, the customer accepts the promoter has fulfilled their obligation to provide cashback on issue of the Pre-Paid Mastercard. It is the customers’ responsibility to validate and use funds on the card before it expires 13 months from issue."
which i think means to me that i should still be able to have the funds but they say there are different terms on the letter that came with the card saying i needed to validate the card within 3 months to access the funds.
can anyone shed some light on where i stand
many thanks
jon

Sounds to me like you stand with a useless sliver of plastic as you didn't validate it within the 3 months you were instructed to do so ..0

yep probably right but cant help but think i have some rights as terms and conditions look clear to me.... not sure its fair for them to have missed the 3 month validation bit out of their main terms and conditions.... but i may be wrong! thanks for your reply :-)0

Well, did the letter that came with the card say validation within 3 months as they claim?
If so you're going to have to rely on their goodwill. Maybe go into a store and see if you can charm the assistant manager?0 -
Your first post says you forgot to validate within 3 months, which suggests you knew you had to. Don’t think you will get anywhere0

so i didnt realise at the time i needed to validate the card..... i opened the letter peeled off the card saw that the expirey date was over a year away and just stuck it in my wallet.... two days ago when i tried to use the card ....as i had just relised that the card was expireing in a couple of weeks was when i found out the activation issue!
the terms of the promotion say that the user has 13 months to activate the card and use the funds..... but aparently the letter that came with the card mentioned the 3 month activion limit.... the letter i didnt read and binned a year ago !0 -

Oh dear what a shame never mind.
I meant to call the AA and haggle my renewal premium and forgot, I was charged a small fortune because I was a plank. A bit like yourself.0 -
you may be right lol .... but im still going to argue my case.....just waiting for customer services to call back0

argued my case and they have agreed to transfer the cashback directly to me skipping the card completely :-)0
