Anyone using Virgin Media Connect app to find wifi blackspots at home?
I downloaded it on to my phone and started using it, but after I had checked three rooms, one of which reported a wifi black spot, that part of the app disappeared and all that is left are on my phone, are links to set up VM services like VM tv which I do not want at present. I have tried restarting it but wifi connectiviity check is still missing.
I then went online and checked the VM instructions for using the app and it shows a diagram of a room layout and wifi access displayed as 3 red spots in the rooms. I had nothing like that on my phone. The app definitely downloaded and is still on my phone (Galaxy S8) but now omits the wifi room signal check feature. I have an H3 hub.

most wifi antennas transmit in a circular pattern. The basics is that you have to wander around your premises measuring signal strength like vistumbler can do.
the Gotchas:
Other devices may have a less sensitive receiver and/or a small aerial - need more signal. Others on the same frequency may cause signals to clash and limit your bandwidth. The microwave oven, baby monitors, and some mice (I had this) may block out you whole wifi (usually only on one laptop though due to proximity)

another popular app is inSSIDer0 -
You are lucky, mine kept telling me that the number from the router that logs you in was wrong....I input it manually and used the QR code with no joy,
That said, as far as I can see, it's just a gimmick and as 'that' suggests, I use 'inSSIDer' to check out the Wifi.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

I don't see the point of this app. Surely any smart phone with wifi built in can already do this?0

eamon, i agree. The benefits are a visual display showing the signals on the same frequency with a higher amplitude and a number, rather than one of 5 bar sizes, and also shows more devices in one screen, but basically they are the same as you state
Think the old netstumbler showed hidden networks0 -
The point was that if I found blackspots using their Connect app I would entitled to a free repeater0

If it's free I'll give it a go myself.Friendly greeting!0 -
Following buffering while we were trying to watch "Bad Banks" on all four last week, Virgin sent us a Hub 3. Following set up I have used the app to check.
I am wondering if it is deliberately insensitive to avoid providing the free repeater?
Our newish Sony tele shows wifi as being 52% in its locale, which doesn't sound much to me, but is apparently "good" to the app!
In fairness, no buffering problems since, although the new Roku streaming stick may be making a difference.0
