I tried them years ago with 15,000 books, they only buy per bag by weight from charity shops not dealers.

Scanning would take too long, it's better for me to pick what I think would sell on Amazon. that would mean 95% of the books would have to be thrown away.

I don't really know todays value as I haven't sold any books at fairs or online for 5 years, and I am completely out of touch with current prices, I know I can scan them, but I cant say what the entire collection is currently worth. I only know what I have paid. I don't know If I should bite the bullet and give up on books. or give up on car boots selling non book items, I don't seem to be any good at this. If I didn't have this around my neck. I could make a fair living doing either on a smaller scale. But I dont know what to do

What about a house clearance company? Maybe they could come and take them off your hands, plus other stuff that you maybe don't have room for at home?

Way I see it these items are only going to keep causing you stress and put you more into debt...it's time for them to go and only you can say what way that is. Scanning/typing in bar codes is going to be time consuming but i you have some that are worth a fair bit, maybe it'll be worth it. Other than that, you'll just have to chalk this all up to experience and seek out some professional help to just cut loose the surplus. Maybe contact the CAB and see if there's any local charities that could send helpers, or ask family/friends to come and help in return for pizza. Nothing is impossible, even if it seems like it is.

Thanks for your reply, I looking into all suggestions.
The fact that I am only addressing it now is because i have too.
  • There's a website called helpfulpeeps, you can post asking for help in your local area. Hopefully someone or a couple of people could help you out. Also Freegle - people may come and take some for free.

As someone has already said you may be better off letting the landlord sell the books to cover the debt. I would say focus on removing all the other items you wish to keep without thinking about the books. They are weighing on you and won't help your mental health.

If the landlord sells the books and doesn't make enough to cover the debt, will the remainder be written off or still owed?

Could you move the items you wish to keep to a single container and allow the landlord to empty the rest? This would drastically reduce the amount you need to pay each month meaning the remaining debt can be cleared quickly.

Is there anywhere that pays per kilo for books that might collect them as you have so many? You've said you're happy for them to go to charity so making you zero money back. What about local libraries? Maybe they would collect some? I'll add any other ideas as I think of them.

Could you have a book sale where the books are? Advertise on face book in your local area and have a sort of garage sale?
I love books too so know its will be hard throw away.

    Thank you

    current update .
I have emptied one container. I took them to the paper waste
    500 boxes.
I did most of the work myself.
One friend helped one day, and another friend who can do the work of three men worked for three days.
I am going to start on another container but my van is out of action till after Easter and the paper waste is also closed.

I have now gone back on Amazon, but I need someone to show me the ropes re Amazon FBA, as I have problems with size of boxes, weight of boxes and current paperwork and shipping to Amazon.

I intend to ship 10,000 to Amazon FBA if I can

I dont think this is possible.

I used to do Book Jumbles years ago, but I lost over time all my contacts.

Its also a waste of my time doing car boots, because sadly on merseyside there is no demand for books at them

    I'll look into it.

    dont what to do that

probably have to pay as I want to keep some containers

It wont fit into one container.

Waste paper pay £20 a ton, but wont pay for books only cardboard,
the other paper place want a waste recycling license.

The likes of we buy books, only buy from charity shop, and one said the charity shop they now dont pay for books and then relist in bulk on amazon

You have to remember the amount I have, each container contains at least 12 van loads of books most charity shops if they take books will only take one or two boxes nobody today wants books, if i take them to a car boot, it's the emptiest stall at the car boot.

The radio didn't get back to me, and facebook no one turned up
