Unfortunately this was a first time using Hermes for me and the first time selling anything of value so I'm not as clued in as some of you above.
This isn't a Hermes-specific issue though, it's the same for any courier e.g. Royal Mail only covers you for c. £21 unless you pay for extra cover.

Even insuring with Hermes doesn't guarantee a payout. They told me that my parcel was lost, encouraged me to put in a claim - which I did - and agreed to resolve my claim by a particular date. Four days after that date, Hermes miraculously found my parcel (missing six weeks by this point) and delivered it .... Christmas presents in mid-January. They think this discharges their responsibility, I disagree given they declared it as lost and I complied with all their insurance requirements. I've got my case going through Resolver at the moment.

claim for what? The items were delivered
I doubt they offer compensation for delay or consequential loss

A claim for the fact that Hermes confirmed the parcel and its contents to be lost, so I replaced the contents. Am I meant to wait indefinitely in case they find a lost parcel months later? What's the point of insurance against loss in that case? That's the basis of my claim, that I purchased insurance and submitted a claim in line with their own guidelines.

Heck, there's no point even telling the OP that they had the wrong insurance level if you can never actually claim against insurance for loss in case they find the item at a later date ...

Perhaps you should have waited for your insurance claim to be paid before replacing the "lost" item in that case.
