Hi
How long does it take once land registry are informed to take a charge off for the charge to come off.
I have just paid off a small loan, and want to re-mortgage the property. I have the mortgage approved but they wont release it until they see that the charge has been taken off!
Some one told me it can take months!
Does anybody know current times or how it can be expedited?
Any help would be v. welcome

It depends how the company with the benefit of the charge applies to remove it. If they are signed up to the Land Registry portal and have access to electronic discharge then the charge is removed pretty much instantly.
If they are not then the charge has to be removed by a paper application. The application has to be executed as a deed so as such it may be delayed based upon the availability of approved signatories etc.
When the application is lodged it the Land Registry will process it. I believe the current turn around time is about 5 days, providing the application is correct.0
