Another thread about the VED rise....mine went up by £5 as well....thats an increase of £0.00042 per mile for me.
So what?0 -
The reality is that these documents are sent for printing quite well in advance of when they're sent out to the vehicle keepers. Thus DVLA will retain such wording in case the Gov decide to have a snap budget or some other such event arises (e.g. general election). Basically they're covering their arisses.
They only print that cop out line on the April reminders though, so that doesn't cover their backsides if there is a snap general election and/or emergency budget.
And how far really are they printed in advance though? I've sold cars where the V11 reminder was due in a couple of weeks and then not received the reminder as I was no longer the keeper.
Therefore I don't believe these reminders are printed any more far in advance then maybe a week.0 -

I usually get mine at least three weeks in advance of the VED being due (I can't remember one within the past ten years where it's been alter than that). Allowing a couple of days for post it must be printed at least 24 days in advance (assuming it's printed and immediately posted).0 -

What I meant was they are printed no longer than a week before they are posted, not when the tax is due.0 -
I beat the system 'once' saved me at least £5, maybe as much as £10
Night of the budget where they announced the price increase i managed to purchase my tax just before Midnight even though it was 15 days before it was due.
Think it said 14 days before at the earliest, but it worked. Not had to tax anything close to the budget/price increase since though.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Because of the numbers of forms needing printing they are sent to the printers 6-8 weeks before they are posted and usually posted 3 weeks in advance of the due date.0

I think the OPs point is that the increase was announced in October, which is a lot more than 8 weeks before April, and as people on here have been quick to point out on the other threads about the extortionate "sudden" increases even the stupidest plebeian should have known it, so you would think that even if bureaucracy is an order of magnitude stupider, they could have got the right cost for a renewal after April 1st.
Let's blame the Teachers for yet another thing shall weI want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
