Claiming PPI on companies no longer trading

Options
Hi to all. I am new on posting, I was this morning a pen smidge away from filling out a ppi claims company to do the donkey work as I work 7 days a week and am atm dealing with my late father's estate. Anyway every time I google to find a company I keep coming here. I have written down the telephone numbers for the two banks I have used in the past (loans and overdrafts on both) and I do have the account numbers, but I have had a index (littlewoods) account(again I have the account details), and credit card (am still with the same company) and I had 3 or 4 cars with a garage under finance, which I know for a fact that I had ppi on them all, as they said I would not be able to have finance unless I took the ppi on the loan. My question is how do I track them? :( who do I write to or call? I have no idea. I have googled and cannot find a thing. I have had a read on other questions but cannot find a starting point. Sorry if I sound like I am 4 but would greatly appreciate some advice on where to go from here...:embarasse:huh: thank you

You send your complaint to whoever sold you the PPI policy, with your reasons as to why it was mis sold.

Remember that a claims company will do no donkey work for you. You are the donkey, they only collect the cash.

PPI sold on car loans by garages prior to 2005 will not be covered by regulation so they can dismiss your complaint. If they are no longer trading and were sold after 2005 you can use the FSCS, otherwise your complaints with those are over. No one can help you with these complaints, least of all a claims company.

  • Hi to you both and thank you for your replies. Yes the car agreements were before 2005. Total bummer as I know I paid ppi on all the car agreements I had. But back then who knew..?! I am currently going through wads of paperwork in my garage (as I am one of those hoarders) :embarasse fun though, credit files from forever ago, kinda wish I hadn't started :undecided I can download a template from here somewhere too for the other's though yes? Sorry to be a pain, I actually don't think I will have any ppi on other stuff but I suppose it is worth a try and see. I only remember the cars. I can't conscientiously remember taking much notice when signing for stuff. Very silly. I do now however. :D

You do realise that the claims company form is about the same size of a PPI complaints form that the lenders use? You wouldnt be saving any time at all by using a CMC.

The firm that sold it to you. The car dealer in the case of the car loans.

Car dealers were not regulated until January 2005. If you bought the finance from them before then they will not consider the complaint. There are a very small number of own-brand financing which will consider pre-regulation due to their set up.
