Good morning from a grey, cold & very damp IoD : ) Thanks for the welcome back TA, -taff & SO.
We had a surprise visitor yesterday which made the 3 of us very happy - a great spotted woodpecker :T & DH managed to get a beautiful photograph. It entertained us by attacking a pigeon that was trying to get to the same bird feeder as it was using :rotfl: Our weather must be really messed up as usually the woodpecker visits us in July : )
Yesterday we continued working in the garage. Several bits of timber that we wombled from the neighbour’s skip were put back in the skip as they were surplus to requirements & the timber we kept for future projects has been stored neatly in the garage. Two large bags of offcuts/damaged wood is being taken to the Tip. We will continue working in the garage today & I need to pop to the P.O. but will probably not walk due to the inclement weather.
OL, I hope you get a result from the visit to the doctor.
Gentle (((hugs))) to all who want or need them

I suppose that I am one of those who is not posting as often as I used to......have been trying to spend less time sitting down, so deliberately not opening up my tablet in the morning......then life, grandchildren and OH take over.
I have been reading most days.....hugs for Poppy, Holly ,JackieOand everyone else dealing with health problems, Ginto's John, Gers' DM included.
Sparky , sounds as if you had a good weekend......congratulations on you no spend days.....good luck with date number 3.
It's mild here today, think that we will have some rain, need to go to local shop DS1 is making lamb curry for dinner but we have no peppers, chillies or jar of sauce (jar sauce?? where did I get him??).
Have got an appointment for DH with an eye consultant for 9th May, he complains that his left eye is sore and that he loses vision during the day, he does have cataracts but they don't pain, nor are they. ripe for removal, so we will have to wait and see.what the consultant thinks.
Have finished the christening dress I knitted for DGD6......I rashly promised to knit one for each of her sisters and her youngest cousin, so will need to get cracking on those soon.
The house is very quiet since DGD7 has gone to full time creche, we miss her so much, she is happy there which is a good thing..

Hi
Well that's an experience I don't wish to repeat. A very nice roofer man arrived on time, had a look outside then tried to get into the attic. Cue a slipped ladder, Mr Fix It at the bottom of the stairs moving out of the way at the speed of light of the ladder and the roofer man, who ended up flat on his back on the stairs . We all thought it was an ambulance job, but it turned out that the man had a cricked neck, a sore wrist and of course he was very shocked and shaken up. I offered first aid and some hot tea........... he had the tea and a quiet sit down. I don't know who had the whitest face...... the man or Mr fix It. My goodness the roofer man was very, very lucky today !! ( and so was Mr Fix It  )
MeanMarie post when you feel you want too. It is always nice to hear about the goings on in everyone's life. I hope you can get a positive answer from the consultant for your DH.
MrsSD how lovely to have the woodpecker. We have only ever seen one once in our garden and I would have missed it if I hadn't been taking part in the big garden bird watch at the time. I had to get a second opinion from Mr Fix It though, as I thought I was seeing things :rotfl:
Gintot I hope you and John can get your break, it will probably do you both the world of good.
I think I shall have a lie down in a darkened room now after today's antics........ things always seem to happen when we are involved, we must be a jinx.

Evening all.
Bad day here with DM so I won't dwell.
On the upside I went downstairs to post a letter and did a turn in the park - well, it's an almost upside as I didn't realise just how steep or how long the downhill part is to reach the river pathway. My knees did not appreciate it at all, in parts I was going down sideways. Won't do that again, however the weather was glorious and I enjoyed being outside.
Tomorrow will be busy with the DN, the carers, they physio and the GP all coming in before 1pm. Never mind DM being exhausted...
I'm very impressed with the wireless fire / smoke alarm set up which was installed yesterday. There's a flashing beacon and a vibrating 'biscuit' which alert both the user and the control centre. The engineer was interesting as he told me that there's also a 'fall detector' available and a PIR movement sensor too. All these bits are free add-ons to the Tele-care system which DM pays £13.00 a month for. Modern technology at it' best!
Now I'm waiting for the first visit from the carers (no idea what happened to the morning visit) who are coming between 7 - 9pm. Hope they don't stay long as I'm usually in my jimjams by 8p.m. :rotfl:0
