Assume holding is going to be around £80k with say five fund transactions per year.

I don't know if they'll have the new interactive investor charges updated there yet, but all other information should be reliable.
Just tried to setup an HSBC share dealing account but there is a problem - you need to switch your current account banking to HSBC first before they will let you open a share dealing account.
    The eligibility criteria state:
"You can open a sharedealing account if you’re:
    - an HSBC personal current account customer (excludes HSBC Basic Bank Account)
    - registered for online banking
    - a UK resident or UK Crown employee
    - at least 18 years old"

So you just need to open a current account, there is no requirement to switch.

Going down the list from cheapest onwards looks like Interactive Investor might be the next best to try.

Turns out I already have an account with them which came from an old TD Waterhouse account.

Yes, but be aware they are increasing their fees, from £22.50 per quarter to £30 per quarter (including 3 and a bit free trades).
