About a year ago, taking MSE suggestion, I wrote to my bank as just may have had some cover when I took out a mortgage 20 years ago. The bank wrote back saying - they could not find any evidence of PPI so my claim request was refused.
3 months ago after pestering by PPI agency, I duly filled in forms. They have now written saying the bank is going to refund me a few hundred quid, but of course will deduct their fee.
I feel, I should be going back to the bank and suggest, as they initially refused my claim, that they should cover the fees of the agency? Or should I contact Ombudsman??

No.
You will need to pay the fees yourself.0 -
What has ISA got to do with PPI - FOS would not recommend that a lender pay for CMC services, you are the one that entered into a contract for their services they make this quite clear in the published decisions0

Nope. It doesnt wash. The regulated complaints process is free of charge to use. If you decide to pay someone to use the free of charge service then you pay the bill. The FOS say this on your website and its been this way for over 30 years.
A number of banks have been getting old archived non-computerised records put onto their systems which is why you some earlier "can't find" are now being found.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
