Calling abroad

Hi my brother is in Australia at the moment travelling and I am trying to find the cheapest way of calling him. We both have internet access mine is with AOL and we both have mobiles. I've heard of these internet phones but not sure how they work or if they are any good.

Cheapest way is landline to landline via 1899.com
Mobiles will cost more.
SKYPE via your computer.

Has he purchased an Australian SIM card? For example: Virgin Mobile Australia

If so, using 0844 566 3 566 from a BT phone is 5p per minute to an Aussie mobile.

If he's using a UK mobile, don't call him, send him a text message instead.

if you both have microphones and speakers or better yet a headset with mic or an internet phone as you say, you can use skype for free, you will need it installed on both computers and each have an account. All you need to do then is one of you add the other as a contact and all you need to do then is double click your brothers contact on your list of friends and you're talking for free.

The only thing is the time difference between him and you .My daughter who is in Oz, wanted me to get on the web cam Christmas Day last year at 7,30am in the morning !She had had her dinner on the beach and obliviously had a drink , she was all happy and i was half asleep !

I can call her Oz mobile for 4p a min using 18185 using a landline phone

my wife calls her old mans home or mobile phone with skype, I think if you have an Orange live box you can plug in your phone and call free.

I use skype every week to speak to my daughter in Brisbane pc to pc works quite well and it's free. Try Gizmo they have a new program out which you download into your phone (mobile).
