I voted leave, im starting to think we should just jack it in now

Not because i think its the right thing to do, mainly as i am sick to the back teeth hearing the word "Brexit" and couldn't really care less about what those !!!!!!!s in parliament are doing. Its just obvious there is no one really behind the idea, and even if it does happen, it will be a total mess

Remain people will say "told you so" but that's not true. The reason its not worked is those who were charged to enact it, have failed. Thats not the publics doing, and should be a warning to either side of the vote on who runs our country

Including your good self of course, I think you mentioned it once. Can you explain yours/their rationale? Because I've never met a Remain to Leave convert. I guess there must be some waverers who keep flipping.

Moving to leave because the EU is harder to deal with that Leave claimed, or because Westminster turns out to be incompetent, are both insane reasons to back leave.

I know a few who went the other way because "I didn't vote for this mess" or "I didn't realise how important the EU is".

It's interesting to see Melissa Kite literally standing next to someone who's saying he's changed his mind & then stating that she's never met a Leave voter who's changed their minds.

I know several leave voters who have said they've changed their mind and regret voting leave.

I've met many people like that too.

Not met anybody like that though.

As regards for what the country wants; it's like the cup of tea metaphor for consent.

Collectively we said we wanted a cup of tea.

    And now we don't.

I don't believe you. If you voted remain then switching to leave because of how parliament is handling brexit actually makes no sense.

Maybe if literally everything that was told by the leave campaign hadn't turned out to be a complete lie then you might be able to have some credibility ever, but that ship has sailed.

My sense, talking to the people that I know who would consider voting leave is this. They wouldnt vote leave because they had a change of heart and were no longer a remain supporter. They would vote leave because pragmatically they accept that we (remain) lost the referendum and are worried about the schism that would appear if the nation was given a second ref which overturned the first. It is quite a nuanced position that puts what they see as the needs of the country before their own personal choice.

What do you actually mean by a schism?
Riots? Families and friends having difficulties in their relationships?
People evading/avoiding taxes and not cooperating with the authorities?
    Or something else?

I think our society is already pretty broken.
There is a general lack of respect and consideration for others already
E.g. people not giving up a seat on a train for disabled people.
There is already a divide between the have and have nots and my perception is that it’s got bigger and when my generation gets to pension age it will be massive with the difference between those with gold plated pensions and those living a subsistence life on a state pension.

This is about people who once favoured leave and have not moved away from that position.

If you look at Peter Oborne's article in the link I posted above, you surely see that it is very relevant to the economy?
The economic arguments for Brexit have been destroyed by a series of shattering blows

I’ve heard the argument that people want to get it over with and ‘just leave’. That’s reckless, stupid and could inflict incalculable damage. Matters can get an awful lot worse – more unstable and angrier and far more economically damaging – after we leave the EU. And I write this as someone who voted for Brexit.

    Economic disaster
If we are honest, we Brexiteers have to admit that the economic arguments for Brexit have been destroyed by a series of shattering blows.................................
