Good morning.

Hi each, I'm in a "what is the motivation to give up/cut down?" mood.
For me, there isn't a solitary reason but an accumulation.
1. Costs money - we all know that. More on that in a minute.
2. Does us no good.
3. Empty calories - no nutrition whatsoever.
4. People do/say things when intox'd that they wouldn't otherwise - often to their detriment. (I know I have!)
5. Can't drive.
Looking at those points then;
Cost - Giving up means paying less tax! Very MSE! In my case I want to buy a sports car (Toyota MR2 roadster) so each day I don't have a drink I put £5 in a saving account - notched up over £1,000 in 2020. I should double that by my target date - May 1st 2021.
Health - pretty obvious that one, really, plus the calories! 15 minutes on a treadmill = one small glass of wine - not worth it! Oh and I certainly sleep better, no 'bladder-calls'!
Driving - we all know it's verboten, but I read that 25% (or so) of D-drivers are caught the morning after. Crumbs! I only drink soda and lime when out anyway.
So there you go, RobM's thought of the day - stay tuned if insomnia worries you!Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!5 -
Well done maggie.😊
I think it's good to analyse what motivates us rob, just as it's good to be aware of our triggers. While I don't ignore the cost and health benefits, I know it's the ill effects of necking empty calories that motivates me most.😉
13/10 AFDs please Cathy.

11/14 so far for me. Managed to put a bit of streak together!
Having a couple nights off to relax with the wife on our days off work, then back of track to hit target by the end of the month.
Definitely felt different not drinking, less tired is a big one!3 -
