loveasale said:Hello everyone, don’t like this new look forum ,,, suppose we will all get used to it in time , have drank all this weekend , planned , as I said lots of social occasions in feb for me , doubt I will meet target , and still feeling very low ,,,, xThere's no doubt that drinking more than is usual for someone tends to exacerbate feelings of depression, so if you'd been successfully cutting down and are now drinking a bit more there's a very high chance you might experience some low feelings. (((Hugs)))Sorry you're having such a hard time with the Smileys, Cathy Bird. I admire your persistence. I'm afraid we've lost quite a lot of our editing functions which is going to make the appearance of these threads quite a bit duller. And no colours.9/2 please, Shaggy.
Better is good enough.6 -

Signed in and cannot stand what they’ve done to the site. Does anyone know how to see at a glance the date/time of a post like we used to be able to do? Appreciate cathybird’s efforts to maintain the look of the thread.
This is is in no way directed at anyone on this thread but I have got to vent about the overall changes to the forum. Just let me rant to myself for a minute then I’ll feel better...
...but it really does bug the hell out of me when changes to suit the needs of the operators are dressed up as ‘improving the user experience’ or similar. It’s just a lie isn’t it? The MSE forum announcement promised it would deliver a “tech upgrade”. Has it? The feedback I’ve seen has been overwhelmingly negative. Why can’t they just be honest about it and say something like “the existing site is really difficult, time-consuming and expensive to maintain, so to make our lives easier (and a bit cheaper to run), we’re going to dumb it right down and remove all the little quirks that the users liked and were familiar with. Just dress it up as an ‘upgrade’ and they’ll never know”. Well, I’ve had it with this. EVERY TIME there is some sort of IT change, the end result for the poor old user is worse. What about that TSB ‘upgrade’ a couple of years ago? It was absolute carnage. Then later it all came out that the changes were all due to migrating to a cheaper-to-maintain system (and screw the end users). The business I work for used to have a fantastic internal IT system built years ago, in-house by our own IT at the time. It was clunky, it was quirky, but it performed brilliantly, it never crashed, it was intuitive for the end users, us mere minions loved it and it was widely admired by our counterparts in other companies. One problem though, because it was a bespoke system, it was reliant on having supportive IT behind it. Gradually over the years, the folks who built it moved on or retired and the new people coming in started to think, hang on, why have we got to maintain this system? Until various bright spark heads of IT lobbied so hard for an off the shelf replacement system, that eventually the bosses gave in and were persuaded to migrate to a new, shiny commercial replacement. Cue months and months of an unstable, completely counter-intuitive, buggy, unreliable mess of an IT system that crashes literally all the time and has to be taken offline at a moment’s notice for ‘maintenance work’. But hey, it makes life slightly easier for our IT because now all they have to do is refer the issues to the provider...rather than have to, you know, fix it themselves...and it saves a bit of money, so ultimately that’s all that matters, right?
Sorry sorry sorry. Rant over. AF weekend for me so I am on 8/24 thank you (no colours! But it’s an upgrade right!)

6/16 and 1SNC.
Sorry to hear you are feeling low Loveasale, hope things pick up soon for you. Lovely to have you posting again Honeybear. Looking forward to Shaggy managing to join us soon too.4 -
Season of Mist, don't apologise
I enjoyed reading your rant. I suspect you're right. I loved the old MSE website and don't think the new one is a technical improvement - in fact, it seems worse in many ways. It seems to have been redesigned by people who don't use it and don't grasp how it works. I hope they are listening to what people are saying about it. I'm a TSB customer, btw ... they're normally pretty good, which is why I was prepared to overlook the debacle that happened with the IT transfer. I feel your frustration with your workplace. I suspect most workplaces use similar "logic", sadly.
