O/S Daily Monday 8th April 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Light here but murky and misty.

DH up and getting ready for work as is DS1, I'm already showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppas and my porridge whilst on here.

Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, swede, carrots, green beans, cauli/broc cheese, peas, yorkshires and gravy - was lovely and some LO's. I remembered to get the chicken breasts out to defrost - they'll become chicken in sauce with savoury rice for tonight's dinner.

We were fairly lazy yesterday - just pottering about at home not really doing too much.

Back to work today - I expect we'll be busy - we'll see.

Keep safe and well x

Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.

I'm up, not dressed though. House is clean though messy, today I need to change bedlinen.

I continue to feel very weary but this is as nothing to what others are experiencing.

Thinking of Poppy and of Gers' DM, and of all of us who are unwell or worried. JackieO I hope your holiday is good, and that the fresh air helps get rid of horrible germs.

    Morning all

Much cooler here today have had to put the heating on for a while, hopefully it will brighten up later on, its the easter holidays here so the other caf! at work should be busy as will the whole site our caf! will be its normal level of busy with no public allowed :j

We went for a lovely walk yesterday and found an old disused railway track and tunnels etc which was lovely pup got very muddy and sandy as it was kind of heathland and lots of sandy areas.

Roast lamb for dinner tonight I made double yesterday so just need to heat it through today so a nice easy dinner tonight.

Need to do a wash tonight so will put that on the airer in the conservatory.

Jackie hope you feel a little better this morning and enjoy your beloved IOW xx

Poppy thinking of you I hope the side effects of the chemo wear off soon xx

    Have good days all xx
  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC for starting us off. Nice to have AOD and JACKIE back with us, though sadly not well. JACKIE have a lovely holiday on your island and hopefully the sea air will chase away the bugs and clear your chest. It's tiring cough, cough coughing non-stop.

It's dull and nippy here too but some sun is forecast. I have popped the heating on for an hour to take the chill off. We never seem to get two days alike just now.

Most unlike me but I had a really good night and didn't want to leave my bed when I did wake up! It won't last! Despite the long sleep I still feel tired.

I have the dentist after lunch. Just for a check up but I know there will be a filling to do as I lost a bit of one a while back.

Unusual for a Monday but I have no leftovers to eat up today so I will delve into the tidy(!) freezer shortly and decide what today's eats will be. I think fish will be involved,

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Thinking of HOLLY and POPPY suffering from horrible treatment especially. Take care one and all xxx

Good morning everyone, especially the MIAs.

My day will be fairly predictable- waiting for the district nurse (only 15 more visits) and then later an engineer to install the flashing / vibrating smoke alarm in DM's room. Nothing to do with recent stuff, I've been trying to get a replacement Fire Angel for three years.

    Hugs to all.

    Happy Monday.

    Good morning and Happy Monday,

My weekend was spent back in Glasgow visiting as many people as possible, amongst it all was a lovely meal at my favourite restaurant with my cousins. It was great. Over too soon, as always. Left Glasgow at 3pm yesterday and arrived home at 6.15pm. By the time I done some errands, it was bed time. A bit of a restless night, probably not helped with my choice of 'relaxing sounds' to help me sleep. For the first time in ageeeees, I chose talk radio, which (unsurprisingly) was focused on Brexit. My goodness some of the callers are passionate about it all. It made me want to stay up to see if it somehow broke out into a physical dispute!!

Anyway, I woke with the sound of my alarm at 5am for the gym. Just as well it did as I was having a dream that a Chinese woman was trying to stab me with a fountain pen for some reason. I've got yoga tonight, which I'm looking forward to as usual. By the time I've done that, I'll be home and into bed.

    AoD - hope you're ok.

    Morning :)

JackieO Sorry to hear you are not well that is most unlike you. Hope it doesn't spoil your holiday ...cant believe its a year since you went last. Take good care of yourself ma x

AOD Yeah good to see you back in the back in the fold :j It's not a competition as to who is ill enough to get thoughts and wishes ....well I hope it isn't anyway. You were missed as one of our gang :A

It's a lovely sunny blue sky day again.

Couple of hours work to do today and hopefully some follow up stuff from sales calls. Also getting a new phone today which for most people is good news but I'm dreading it. It has one of those teeny tiny sims that need a tool to get it out and as my fingers dont work very well it is a nightmare. The irony of it is I would have been happy to stick with my old phone but to do that the price would have gone up!!

Food wise I'm having good old sausage mash and beans tonight....nursery food :D

Hope you all have a healthy and happy Monday

    Morning everyone,

Have had a quiet, but restful weekend which was much needed after a couple of busy weeks, my DOH is going through his first year-end with his current company and has been working hard so good for him to relax and recharge a tad.
Lu has the farrier coming on Wednesday and I have a hair appointment on Thursday but apart from that not loads planned.
Thoughts are with Holly and Poppy as they cope with their treatment, hugs to all other poorlies or those struggling at the moment.

Have a good day folks x

Nelski, don't worry, you've not lost a few months, Jackie went to the IoW in August as well as Easter last year.

Poppy, thanks for the update, I'm sorry things didn't work out for you, I hope you regain the health to be able to have a good quality of life for some time.

I hope everyone having a hard time is coping as well as they can.

After a week of late rising and lazy mornings I set the alarm last night because I am fed up with wasting the days feeling meh. I need to get myself sorted out before I settle into a moaning old age.

Morning all! Trip to SM planned to get some eye stuff and being as I'm up early, maybe have breakfast, and get some carrots to make the beef stew. Totally forgot I'd bought the beef on Saturday from a local butcher and when I remembered eventually yesterday, it was 8 o clock and too late to make the stew. Shan't forget today.
Did a fair bit of tidying yesterday, have all bras ready to go to Africa, or wherever they go, clothes ready to ebay, bedclothes the cat had slept on went in the washer and on the line except it's raining today so they'll stay there till it's not. Can actualy see the top of both chest of drawers now...It does make me laugh when I see people selling 'Chester drawers' on FB...don't they ever wonder why they're called Chester?
I think webuybooks will be buying some of mine too if I can find a box for them.
Got sme potting on of seedlings later on, all the black toms came up, none of the chillies so i will do a la Nelski and stop by a GC on the way back to peruse the offerings.

Have a good time away Jackie! snoozer, same here, set the alarm for 8, I'm almost compos now....poppy, rubbish news about the chemo, I hope you enjoy whatever time you have, make sure you're afforded the best painkillers in case....AOD, been to the docs to make sure it's nothing that needs medical interference? good luck at the dentitsts TA. Nelski, sewing shops do really big tweezers [for overlockers], one of those help? Or take it to the shop and get them to do it for you. They can port your number then too if you want. And sausage and mash is a gastro pub meal I'll have you know! Yo Holly!

    Wotcha people not posting...
    Murderous Monday!

    Morning All

Lovely and bright this morning, I have all the windows open. It's a bit chilly but the house could do with some fresh air.

I've done a few jobs this morning including processing the big bag of leeks, they don't look too bad now the green bits are in the recycling bin I'll give some to my neighbour and freeze the rest.

Yesterday's jobs didn't go too well as I had a serious case of CBA but I did catch up on some missed TV. Did anyone watch Race Across the World? I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hugs to you Poppy, you're a brave lady.
Hope you feel better AOD and Jackie. Jackie, enjoy your holiday.
Glad you had a good weekend Specky.
Hope DM has a good day Gers.

Right, I'm off to the shower then I can put the towels in the WM, they should do OK outside today.

    Take care. XX
