Best Budget Sat Nav
Tom Tom are refusing to update my old sat nav Tom Tom via Live 120
I've probably had it 8 years and it's been great, especially for the live traffic and speed camera warnings.
I would like something similar again, certainly under £150. I need the same features, but reading about some of the ones on sale now it seems to indicate that the live traffic is done via your mobile? I only have a basic mobile so this is probably not great for me.
Can anyone recommend a good budget Sat Nav that works similar to my old one?
Thanks

What's wrong with Google Maps on your phone?Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Try using Waze or Googlemaps - I'm guessing you will find them just as good and 'free'. I've stopped using my proper satnav now. I wont go back to it either.

If you can get a cheap smartphone, and you have a reasonable data package (1GB per month is more than enough) then Google Maps (or Waze, some other free satnav app) really is the best option to provide those features.0

I've checked and I do have google maps on my phone. Been reading some reviews comparing sat navs to google maps and seems to be if you can afford it and travel a lot sat navs are still better overall.
I would like to try google maps, if I enter a destination do I get speed cameras, live traffic and alternative routes if quicker, once starting journey?0 -

As long as you have mobile data turned on on your phone.
Speed cameras are new - not all of them are on there yesterday. My trip across country yesterday (150 miles) missed 3 or 4.
I ditched my tomtom and wouldn't go back.0 -
How quick does it update for traffic congestion, alternative routes?0

Its not very dynamic. But you can always speak to it an say "Hello google am I on the fastest route" to get an update too. The biggest issue is that if you get a re-route you can bet its busy from other people being re-routed too.
you do alos get shown alternatives routes in grey on screen, with each one saying like +7 minutes or +3 minutes etc
Google is always very accurate at predicting the time to destination too, way more accurate than my TomTom used to be.0
