Hey,
I'm a bit of a novice at all this but I would like to set up a forum on my site and want to know what is the best one to use? What is the best looking one? and how much does it cost? Any links etc would be appreciated.
Thanks

I find Invision one of the best as it has many back end features that most other forums do not.0

I personally think vBulletin is by far the best and I have tried a lot of different ones including Invision, SF, BB etc. I also find that vBulletin is one of the most secure and offers excellent help.Wins: Feb - Sam and Amanda DVD, Nanny Series, £50 Mother Day Goodies box0

I use invision and find it's been fine for our use (small membership) far, far, far quicker than this site and although very occasionally down again less so than this site.
Also very good from a security point of view as it can be locked down pretty tight.Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing
Do little and often
Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying :mad:0 -

The downtime of a site is not relevant to the software that you are using but to who you host with.
To be honest I would imagine most peoples forums are a lot quicker than this one, there are a huge amount of members and here and a lot of traffic which would be difficult for any forum software to cope with so therefore its not really fair to compare on that basis!
What I will say is that for modifications vBulletin is probably the easiest out of all of them to do and offers some fantastic features. At the end of the day it really depends on what you want from your forum and what you want to offer the members who use it.Wins: Feb - Sam and Amanda DVD, Nanny Series, £50 Mother Day Goodies box0 -

But like you said you don't have many users.
This site has thousands if not millions so at times you would expect it to be slow, I know I do.0 -
