I recently had a PCN after the driver of my vehicle overstayed the free car park at cross street retail park in Long Eaton NG10 1HD.
The overstay was by 11 minutes.

I have appealed to Northern Parking Services on the grounds of grace periods but the appeal was rejected, and am now trying to put together an appeal to POPLA.

If possible could anybody local please take any photographs of the parking signs there? I had a look with google maps and could see there was one at the entrance and a few more scattered around the car park itself but was unable to see the exact wording of them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am unable to do it myself as I'm located a few hours drive away and wont have the chance to visit.

Please drop me a message if you are able to help and we can swap email details.

Just may be worth mentioning that I have since contacted Farmfoods and had a reply from a very helpful chap who informed me that the parking systems are in place to deter non customers from abusing the parking facilities. He requested the receipt as proof of any purchases made or the last few digits of any creditcard used and was going to speak with the parking operator. Unfortunately the driver hadnt kept the reciept and paid by cash so it will be a bit difficult to prove they were a genuine customer.

So please, if you use this car park regularly keep your receipts just in case!

Anyway, hope everyone has a PCN free weekend!
All the best,
Terry

Have you based your forum username on your real name?

If so, you would be wise to get your forum username changed to something very much more anonymous.

To help with that, you might like to read this short extract from The MSE Forum Guide - Frequently Asked Questions & Rules:
    Q. How can I change my username?

    A.
In most circumstances, this is not permitted.

The only reason we will change your username is if it puts your privacy at risk. This usually means you've inadvertently registered using your name, email address or something that gives away your identity within your username.

If you fall into this category, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com and request that it is changed, giving three alternative usernames in order of preference.
  • Hi Keith, thankyou for the heads up but no this is not my actual name or based upon it.
I was thinking of a username and the old VIP sketch of Terry Wagwan popped into my mind!

Throughout here you are advised never to reveal details of the driver

You need to edit your post to remove details of who was driving

The ppcs monitor this forum and can use posts in your thread against you

was the offence based on ANPR cameras ?

if so that would be time on site , not time parked

if you read the currant BPA code of practice you will see that there are two grace periods , arriving and leaving , those exceed the 11 mins you are being perused for

find the times and quote them in your appeal to POPLa

Is that the one opposite the tesco on stilts? I was there a few weeks ago, will be passing again in another few weeks.
    From the Plain Language Commission:

"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"
  • twhitehousecat : Yes that is correct, an ANPR camera had pics of the car entering then exiting the car park.

I mentioned the two grace periods in my initial appeal but on the rejection letter was told that all vehicles are given a ten minute grace period to find a parking space and to exit the area. This looks like they are not acknowledging the initial ten minute grace upon entering and the final grace upon leaving, I'm not sure they are playing by the code of practice rules unless I'm reading it wrong?

Also the PCN states 'period in car park' and not the actual time parked. I am planning on adding this to the popla appeal as there is no evidence to show the time the car was actually parked for, merely times of entering and leaving the grounds.

Half_way : Yes thats the one, there are a few businesses there... KFC, Barnados, farmfoods and pets at home. If you find yourself in the area again any pics would be very much appreciated!

they speak with forked tongue , quote the rules at popla and watch them crawl back where they belong
