Each of a) and b) would be eligible for 10 minutes grace periods (so 20 minutes total) per the BPA Code of Practice (to which Parking Eye must abide, although the Pirates of the Caribbean comment applies ... it's more of a guideline than a code).

Unless it has been updated very recently, the guideline for a grace period for entering, reading the signs and deciding to leave isn't 10 minutes. All it has to be is a "reasonable time" and if it's a small carpark, the BPA may well think 5 minutes is more than adequate.
The only time 10 minutes is that it is recommended is that a driver should be given at least 10 minutes between paying and leaving the car park.0 -
Our local wilkinson car park has upgraded the system to number plate recognition. Process system clocks car reg on entry to car park and when leaving store enter registration and pay.
Last week I parked , bought what I came for and left. When I entered my registration it said I had been there for 8m 15 seconds and no charge was applicable. :T
I've done this a couple of times, it helps what I'm buying is close to the tills.:cool:0
