Starting up since mSN

I may have a problem. Yesterday I set-up a webcam on the comp. Because there was no video, someone linked me to the required drivers, this is fine. Then it was on to establish MSN, this seemed to take ages. Although it is now on, I seem to have introduced a start up issue.
Before I introduced MSN I would switch on and await a blue background screen with the various icons and task bar with flashing green TV's. A click on Internet icon would take me to my home page (yahoo).
Now, after a much longer wait, I get the blue backgound page, with a layout with two options. 1) states my christian name and space for me to enter a password. Once entered that takes me to the original page that I'm used to. But get two MSN boxes telling me if anyone I know is on-line.
The second option is Guest user, and that too has a place for a password. If I clic that, I'm taken to the XP home page I think it is, blue sky and green field.
I'm now wondering if the introduction of MSN has brought this about. I've deleted MSN from Add/Remove, (because I've since learnt that I can have yahoo messenger, I didn't know it was there, hence MSN). Is there anyything else I should remove in Add/Remove associated with Microsoft that might loose this new way of opening?.
