ebay 'second chance' fraud

yeah I don't go for second chance offers! Safer that way!0

The article gives the impression that second chance offers only occur when the original buyer backs out of the deal, whereas of course the actual email from ebay states that it might mean the seller has more than one item.
Anyhow, I use 2nd chance offers a lot where I have a number of identical items and I suppose 50% of them are taken up.

i agree, i recently discovered the second chance offer thingy, its a great way of saving money if you have got multiples of the same items to sell, as you can sell more of the items without having to relist and get stung with the extra listing fees. you might ask why not just use the multiple item listing feature in the first place, but ebay only lets you use that if you accept credit and debit card payments by paypal on your listing.0 -
I've offered 'second chances' several times when I've had multiple items to sell. eg. recently when I had two Graphics cards to sell. The winning bidder bid £265, and I then gave a second chance offer to the next bidder who had bid £260.
I prefer to do it this way than to use the facility for multiple items, since the latter may discourage bidders from increasing bids. ie. if a bidder knows you have several identical items for sale they might decide not to try so hard to get the first one, knowing that they can always pick up another one. If they think there is only one for sale they will try hard (and bid higher) to try and get it.
Of course, if the second chance offer is not taken up, I simply re-list the item (and it usually goes for pretty much the same high price, it just means I have to wait another week).
