Private Health Insurance - Broker

Am I right in thinking that because this is a specialist market it would be better for me to employ a broker
If so can anyone recommend a good broker who is a specialist in this field please

    Not really "specialist"

No need to pay a broker

Private health insurance is not cheap and you get what you pay for

Found the General and medical to be really budget and the premium providers Bupa and Avivia expensive

Vitality are reasonable, but always check the t+C to ensure they meet your requirements, which a broker will help with.

Can you confirm whether it is permanent health insurance (PHI) or private medical insurance (PMI) you are after?

PHI is the best form of income protection. PMI is private medical/hospital cover.

Neither is particularly specialist and any local IFA or whole of market protection adviser should be able to do it.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

Personally, I DO think private medical insurance is a specialist area of advice. Whilst there are a lot of advisers who may be able to do it, being able to do it well is a different matter.

I'd recommend using Regency Health. I've known the Principal (Brian) for a good number of years now and as far as I'm concerned I don't think there's a more diligent or knowledgable PMI specialist on the market.

  • I used Assured Futures mentioned in article, however I found them on my own. They also tried to find me better income protection policy but couldn't beat my current one, as policies went up in price.
