Potentially unsafe tampon

In a box of (own brand) tampons I bought in a shop from a major UK chain I recently noticed one had worrying black dots / shapes inside the plastic case. I'd used about half the box by then, and stopped, although after inspecting the ones left they seemed fine, except one which also has a tiny black dot.
I have no idea what it is, or whether it presents a danger or not. I can't find a recall notice for them, but also can't help thinking that when you're using a tampon, you're just tearing the wrapping the way you're used to and don't expect to have to look carefully at it every single time before inserting it.
Anyway, I'm not sure what I should do?
I don't want to go back to the shop just to get a quid or two refunded (when it'd be a hassle for me to go there during their opening hours in the first place), but more importantly I want to know what's inside, and whether it's a risk if some of the tampons I already used were also "contaminated", and stop other people being put at risk, although I realise it's probably too late now as I must have bought those tampons either in November or December 2018.
Does anyone have any advice about this situation?
