New Boiler - Drain/Sewage Smell

After a bit of advice - Had a new boiler fitted in our apartment on Tuesday and since then there has been a bad smell of eggs/drains when using the dishwasher, or when running a bath. The smell usually goes quick enough but just wondering is this normal? I did think it may be as a result of the gas/water being turned off during the fitting of the boiler and everything being drained? Tried bleach down bathroom and kitchen sinks and bath plug hole but can still smell eggs/drains when using the bath/dishwasher.
Any advice is much appreciated!
Cheers.

    Welcome to MSE. :)

Use a proper drain cleaner/ unblocker product in all plugholes, and a proper dishwasher cleaner product in that and clean the filter. Washing machine too if you have not run a service wash recently.

Bleach will reduce the microbe populations but does not shift whatever they are feeding on (shed hair/ conditioner/ sebum/ food waste/ kitchen grease) so they grow right back.

If a couple of attempts are ineffective contact your gas fitter or plumber.

As you say this started after having a boiler fitted - how was the boiler's condensate drain pipe connection to a waste pipe achieved?

    Good luck
  • To answer your question, no this isn't normal. Sounds to me as though the boiler installer might have bodged the condensate drain into a waste pipe without using a water trap.I suggest you raise the problem with them and if the fail to fix it, employ a proper plumber who doesn't arrive on a horse.

Agree with posts 3 and 4.

Look for a plastic pipe of approx 22mm diameter going from your boiler to the waste pipe & evidence of bodges.
