Huge thanks to everyone!
Today started badly but got so much better. I had a mini-meltdown with DM which seems to have been taken to heart as she's been much more co-operative with me.
The OT and PT came together which lessened the stress levels for DM. PT got her up and shuffling to the bathroom, she also put gliders on the bottom of the zimmer so it moves better across the carpets. OT was brilliant, we will get carers in twice a day from Tuesday. She offered to get them in earlier, however I refused as I felt better after having them here and knowing something was happening.
In Scotland both personal and nursing care in the home for over 65s is free of charge, so different to things in England.
Just to add to my stress levels the cord on DM's blind broke off this morning. Jeez! Anyway, DM still had the invoice from 2012 so the company were great ( Apollo Blinds) and have agreed to re-order the same blind, different colour though similar. They emailed over some colour photos as the orginal one is no longer available - great service. It'll take 10 - 14 days for the blind to get made.
In the afternoon I went out to the bank and for the much needed haircut, again, I feel so much better for being shorn. I even sat in a coffee bar drinking a flat white and eating a bakewell mini tart - spoilt or what?? :rotfl: Being out in the cold sunshine was lovely too.
DM is now asleep and I'm eyeing up a tin of pink gin and tonic - how long can I hang on for ??
Nan - for your Dad!
Happy evening to all.0 -
Evening folks. Nice to have some updates. First HOLLY. Thanks NELSKI for giving us the up to date position. Poor HOLLY, I can't believe her DB and SIL haven't been in touch to see how she is. They are a disappointment to me. It's at times like this you see people in their true colours. I know all about this from my recent bereavement. Certain people have just left me to get on with it.
Now to GERS and her DM. You sounded much more cheerful GERS in your second post. Things will be much easier for you when the home carers are coming in. And, yes, you are lucky to be living in Scotland as we would have to pay for personal care. And don't think twice about the gin and tonic, you have earned it!
I unearthed a pack of M & S Gefilte Fish Balls in the freezer that have languished in there too long. I had them for tea with some salad and baby spuds and, I have to say, M & S let me down with those. They were a bit tasteless!
NAN I hope you have recovered from the drama with your dad this morning.
It's quiet on here today. I hope everyone is as ok as they can be. Have a nice evening if you can folks xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
