Rotary Washing Line Advice!

Brabantia are definitely the best - mine is in constant use, always outside and is still going strong after 12+ years. It was quite expensive compared to other brands, but it can be collapsed and put up with one hand and each round of line is separate, so if it breaks you only replace the broken piece, not the whole line.
Another vote Brabantia here. They are note cheap but in my opinion good value as they are well made, sturdy and built to last.
We recently bought a larger model. Came with a cover, peg bag and very study ground spike with a securely fitting cap. Ours lives in the garage / boiler house with cover on when not in use to protect from dirt. I find if you buy decent quality and look after things, they will last you well.0 -
we have 2 locations for our rotary, one for summer (sun is high gets light all day, but is out of the way of children play) one winter location closer to house (where the winter's low sun can still hit it)0

The weak point is the ground spike and the part of the pole that goes in.
A lot are steel and the will rust through and stick or break, while the rest is still serviceable for years more.
The spike realy needs to be put in with drainage and maintaining.0 -
If you have sturdy walls in your garden you might consider these wall mounted dryers.

I have two, one on either side wall. They fold down and have a cover and are absolutely the business. IMV of course!
Hmm, I am not sure about that one - it is not reassuring that it is available on subscribe and save, with the most popular order interval being monthly :eek:0 -

My is sited on the patio - section of flagstone cut, hole dug, concrete poured spike put in place - hardly likely to rust - it's aluminium. R/line slots in and locks in place.
Have had old ones that rusted - but modern ones aluminium so don't, I don't collapse it - too much hassle trying to disentangle the line!!
Incidentally, does anyone else call them whirlygiggs?I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
Didn't realise about the Alum ones not rusting so no need to get a cover, wondered why so many came without covers these days.:cool:Enjoy everyday like it's your last!0

The tops have been aluminium or coated it the pole that has been the problem.
They can still corrode and get stuck in the spike but less chance of corroding through, might not be as strong in winds when loaded with washing.0 -
I had a Brabantia wallfix one elsewhere, it was great! Sturdy and did the job.
Now have a Brabantia rotary 60m liftomatic. I had a cheap minky one that was £20 on sale to get me through while funds were tight, but have just treated myself to a Brabantia. Not cheap but the Minky one fell apart after 1 summer. Relatives have 2 Brabantia airers, one each side of the house, both going strong after 10 years.
I have a heatpump tumble dryer which is in constant user over the winter but as soon as I can have line dried bed sheets and towels, the line comes out!0
