Powering a hot tub in our garden

Hi all. Wife has just bought a LazySpa hot tub to go in the garden. We already have an outdoor socket installed (with a flap that closes to secure the unit) but the fairly generous in length cable fixed to the hot tub doesn’t quite reach.
I could connect the two via an extension lead but I am clueless as to which type of lead would be suitable to run along the garden and be exposed to the elements. I'm guessing a normal cable reel type wouldn't be recommended for this purpose.
I assume the best setup would be to get an electrician to install some kind of external unit closer to the hub, but of course this would also be the pricier option. I’m looking for the cheapest way of powering the tub without compromising on safety or causing damage. TIA

The simplest way would be to get a garden extension lead. These come with a waterproof cover over the plug. You could double up by putting the plug in waterproof box aswell like this one

Thanks for this. Dri-box looks a good option. Can I use this with just a standard indoor extension cable do we know?Increasingly money-conscious

It will Wouk with regular extension leads but an exterior extension lead will have a pvc covering designed to withstand UVlight and the weather. So I would go with one designed for outdoors ( lawn mowers etc) especially if you are going to be leaving it outside for a length of time.0

Make sure you use a decent quality extension rated at 13A as some are only rated 10A, and the lay Z spa draws close to that so you could overheat the extension.0

Good advice. Thank you!Increasingly money-conscious

Use a decent sized IP65 rated junction box big enough to fit the extension gang and socket and use two glands to waterproof the connection between the knockouts and the cable (you would only need two as one in and one out!)0
