Car remote key not working?

Hello all

I have a Peugeot and noticed the little red part of the key fob fell out, so I poped it back in, it would not turn car on. I looked around where the red part fell out and all I could find was this, but not sure if this is anything to do with the car key? I kept it next to iginition when trying to turn car on but car still wouldnt turn on. ANyone know if this is part of the key?

It wont let me post the link of the picture of the small little round object about 3/4 of an inch long tube looking thing.

Sounds like it's probably the transponder chip, so yep.

Do you have another key?

Thanks, but why did car not turn on when I put the transponder chip next to the car keys when trying the ignition do you think?

Yes have spare key and it worked fine.

Shouldn't do
Works the same as a pet chip - receives its power from the signal strength of the interrogating device
