Good solictors/conveyors around Nottingham?

Hi all, me and my partner are first time buyers finding the whole process very overwhelming. We have been given a solictors quote through L&C and 3 more through the estate agent selling the property we have made an offer for.

I have tried to find information and reviews on the solicitors we have been quoted for and I can either find nothing at all, or each solicitor has both fantastic and terrible reviews with nothing in the middle.

Estate agents are pressuring us to choose a solictor asap but it's a big decision to make with so little information and the feeling of being rushed is just adding to the pressure.

Can anyone recommend from first hand experience a genuinely good solicitor? We don't want any hidden fees or nightmare experiences, we're only at the very start of the process and we're both frazzled already!

  • I sold recently using Ellis-Fermor & Negus (Beeston/Long Eaton/Ripley/Belper), and previously myself and other colleagues have used Robert Barber (Hucknall/Eastwood/West Bridgeford) for both sales and purchases.

Not personally heard of anything but good feedback about either of those companies, and there were no hidden fees in any of my cases.

We have recently sold a property and used Massers as recommended by our estate agents. They were the cheapest of the three that wer3 recommended and did a good job.

A friend does a fair bit of property investing and always uses Campions.
  • I used Cleggs and had no issues.
