Satellite cable splitter

looking for advice, is there something i can use like the 'One For All 2 Way Aerial Booster' but for satellite cable?

i am getting a new tv, and the free-view sat box i have, has the main cables from sky dish connected to it 'so i can watch one channel and record on another at the same time'.
the new tv has a satellite connection so I want to be able to connect to that 'Freeview HD' ,

or could i use the LNB out on the sat box, it has 2 tuners, tuner 1 has a LNB in and LNB out?

Yes it is possibly but it not that easy. Search Mulitswitch and Quattro LNB.

Freeview HD requires an aerial not a satellite dish.

    Probably with limitations.

I'm afraid your post makes little sense.

Signals from the satellite dish will give you a Freesat signal, if using an aerial you'll be receiving the Freeview signal.

Does your existing Freesat STB allow you to record 2 channels at the same time? If not then there's no point in connecting the TV to the dish, you may as well carry on using the STB.

You can't split a satellite cable like an aerial cable, at least not if you want it to work. The tuner sends a signal back up the cable to the LNB to put it in the correct mode for the channel you have requested, so having two tuners on the same cable isn't going to work.

If you want to keep both connections to the box and add one to the new TV you'll need a third cable to the LNB (and obviously the LNB needs to be one with at least three outputs).

There is also a complicated solution with something called a Quattro LNB and a device called a multiswitch, but that's expensive and total overkill for what you're trying to achieve.

You could use the if out on your sat box to feed the tv sat input.

But it will be limited on what the tv can see for sat programmes by what the pvr is doing with its tuner 1.

Better to get another feed from the lnb to the room!

Either way it will give you freesat if the tv supports it, like the pvr one does... Or free to view satellite without the 7 day epg and logical channel numbering.

FreeVIEW HD needs a terrestrial uhf tv aerial... And having one installed may be a better option?

Thank you for the reply's, as always, very helpful on here :-)
will stick with the pvr box as i can record, and just use the aerial for the Free-view signal

You can do this. Satellite cable x2 into the PVR, then LNB out from the box, to LNB in on the TV. This will allow you to use the Freesat tuner on the TV. If you're using both tuners on the PVR though, the TV won't be able to get a signal. This is exactly what the LNB out is for.

:rotfl:No. It is intended for feeding the second tuner via a u-link cable from the out to in2. So both PVR tuners can be fed from a single lnb feed cable (with restrictions on what simultaneous recordings can be made).

It can be used to feed another device (TV) with the issue that the TV loses control when the PVR works it.. TV may still be able to tune some channels, though? I have yet to try that with my setup.

As I understand it, this wouldn't work - tuner one gets the signal, uses it, controls the LNB. Tuner 2, in 'single feed mode' can't do much (it might be able to access some channels) as tuner 1 is in control. Similar will apply to the TV. I have tried this in my prebvious setup.

Swap LNB for a Quad LNB and run an extra cable to the TV, assuming it has a FreeSAT receiver.
