  • Re: break shoes - I'm slightly au-fait with costs of brakes etc - I've had a Renault! Regardless, I think most people have some idea on repair costs, past a certain age but many thanks for your point.

Yes, I have in mind about legal & have mentioned this in correspondence with them. I'm just not sure, like you say, apart from other quotes, what other evidence I can offer, short of asking the old peoples home opposite for their cc tv footage to catch the bu**er with the 3 sliders! My dopey husband managed to take 2 photo's of the wrong side of the car being hoisted, ie the one with 2 sliders instead of 1 . . .

Despite that, I can't help clinging (desperately!) to the fact I visit this spot every day to collect my daughter & parked at 2.50pm. The RAC finally came out at 5.45. The first chap was unable to shift the car at all. It was a desperately cold night in January. They then needed 2 further recovery vehicles to come out in order to finally get the car onto a truck by 11pm. They then took another couple of hours to do a 1.9 mile journey and finally offload the car to a garage opposite my home, having to call another mechanic out to help meanwhile! That's a matter of 9 hours! If damage wasn't done in that time & with so many people involved, I don't know when it could have been!!
I've asked them for their notes or whatever it is they document but they just won't co-operate except just asking for photo's pfffft!

If the handbrake was on, won't the rear tyres have a big bald spot? :)

It's not on my say, the garage report (whose forecourt they dropped it on) clearly outlines the damage. Not sure how I can mitigate the costs? I'd have thought £1,100 fairly good going for handbrake/rear shoes for landrover? We aren't mechanics, not really sure whether they were doing it correctly i.e. 3 sliders not 4 or who knew to take photo's with the RAC ? - experts in recovery? Thanks for responses so far though, any input better than RAC's do far. Really appreciate the comment - not always someone else's fault - bet your wife's thrilled

    Which wife is this? ;)
