3rd party car insurers harrassing calls - any advice/recourse?

Jan '19 my (parked) car was hit and the driver drove off. I fortunately was sitting in my car and managed to go after the 3rd party, who carried on driving and parked up to go and do her shopping.

I rang my insurance who organised repairs etc

I'm now getting multiple calls from a private (as in, no number is shown/141 used) number (9 yesterday!) asking for 'my side of the incident'.

It isn't my insurers calling as they don't ask for letters from my password when they call. I'm pretty certain it is the 3rd party insurance coy attempting to get me to admit liability. I just say 'speak to my insurers, goodbye' but clearly, they aren't for giving up.

For another reason I don't need to explain here, I cannot simply block private numbers.

Is this the norm - anyone else had this problem?

Are you sure it's the 3rd party insurer? Can you see/find/trace the number they call from?
Your insurer will almost certainly have the details of the 3rd party insurer. Maybe ask your insurer to contact the 3rd party insurer and ask whether they have been calling you.

My money's on it being a speculative ambulance-chaser trying to get you to claim through them. I bet they started the first call with "...about the accident", and let you fill the gaps in.

What are they actually saying? Are they actually wanting you to deal direct with them rather than having your insurer's accident management agent in the middle racking up the costs of the claim?

Otherwise Google for Who Called Me and use the phone number they're calling from - that should tell you pretty quickly if they're ambulance chasers.

I was advised by my own insurers that phishing calls *might* happen and that I shouldn't divulge any information if it did, as people are sometimes contacted and encouraged to admit liability by the 3rd party insurance. Didn't expect it to be so often though (3 more calls this morning).

It is always an unknown number - I've diverted all unknown number calls to the answerphone so at least it isn't ringing but it is so annoying.
