Do you really research everything in fine detail before you purchase agrinnal?

It depends what it is, and for a product that I'm only paying £24 for I probably wouldn't spend a lot of time on it, but I then wouldn't whinge about it in public when I discovered my mistake - especially if I'd already had a full refund from the seller.

Wouldn't you want/expect a large company to offer help and support for a product it manufactured
It would be nice if they did, but there's never been any sort of legal obligation for them to do so. You're not even entitled to know who the manufacturer of a product is.

I'm really surprised about the reaction from you all here, on a forum that's involved in consumer rights.
I didn't post here just to 'whinge', but to alert anyone else buying a Roku Express that they can expect no support if they have a problem, and if the retailer's obligation's expired you just throw it away? Should we not expect a higher level of service from such a big company? It's not just about legal obligations.
Most large companies take pride in their customer service, and this hasn't just been as a result of legislation, but because the internet's reviews, forums etc keeps them keen to please.
The tone here suggests we should only expect the bare minimum the law affords, with agrinnall telling me it was 'my mistake', and lincroft insisting I should spend hours researching products, rather than expecting companies to behave honourably.
You lot may know your rights, but if you don't expect more than that, goodbye.

I did not insist on anything, I am not in a position to insist on anything.

A few hours spent reading previous threads on this board, the Praise, Vent and Warnings board and the Motoring board would show you that companies frequently behave less than honourably. Therefore doing research before buying and knowing one's rights are to be recommended rather than expecting the improbable
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
