Def go to ninite.com and select malwarebytes, download it and scan, its worth paying for as its very useful.
Run Windows Defender virus scanner, also do a full windows update.
Do the above for all devices.
Report back.
Use speedtest.net to compare results before and after from each device.0 -

Would it not be better going direct to https://www.malwarebytes.com/ instead of a 3rd party site? Just in case its a dodgy version of malwarebytes that the site links to.0 -
Def go to ninite.com and select malwarebytes, .
No - 'def' dont go there
Go to the actual source to ensure you arent getting a fork .
www.malwarebytes.com
And everyone is missing the big elephant in the room as no one has suggested this is due to W10 downloading a massive update in the background0 -
I would bet it is Windows Update. Currently there's yet another bi-annual point release being rolled out and they're usually quite hefty in size and downloading at under 10 meg would take some time. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Without doing any investigation I would be thinking along the lines of router
there is another bit of software for nirsoft called FileActivityWatch as the data transferred is often read or written, strickly speaking data does not have to be saved or read from disk, but it usually is.
You can try the above three bits of software. They do not install and just run, so when you exit out if them or reboot they will no longer monitor
firstly I would run malwarebytes and a/v on all. They probably will be clean, but it is easy to do.
Second would turn all the PCs on and turn one of yours on and do a speed test, write down the answer and switch yours off. Then do the same to hers.
Now switch on both computers, do a speed rest at the exact same time on each and write down the results. Would have thought the wired one would be quicker though?
On yours and hers get a cmd box and type 'ipconfig /all'. Both your ip, network controller, and mac (physical address) should be different, ignore the Lease dates, but the rest is probably the same?
thirdly from a dos box ( command prompt, dos console etc) type on each computer 'tracert bbc.co.uk' and press return at the same time on each. again would expect a better result on the wired one
Tracing route bbc on mine returned:-
<1 ms <1 ms <1 ms bthub.home [192..................
I suspect not the router as ok when her turned off - what is there the router could be doing?0 -

But the big Windows 10 updates wouldn't run continuously for the entire time the computer in question is on which I think is what's implied by the OP, and the next big Windows Update (April 2019) isn't officially out yet anyway, unless that machine happens to be in the Insider Program.0

Right - I have found a partially uninstalled AVG which using the removal tool I have now removed and rebooted - that has speeded things up a bit.
But looking at task Manager I see Google Drives Sync is taking some - how can I turn it off?0
