This sort of attempted scam is so common and widely publicised that I'm surprised that some people still fall for it.
Even without knowing about it, someone purportedly selling a high price vehicle for well under the book value should always get alarm bells ringing.

These scams, like the Nigerian Prince ones, usually keep the bar fairly low so as to fool the gullible. No point wasting time on someone who'll figure it out part way and waste your time. That's usually why they are riddled with typos and stuff.

Good on this OP for querying it!

Apparently the poor spelling and grammar in these scams is deliberate so as to weed out the literate and intelligent.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

"Too good to be true" is what springs to mind.
The item, whatever it is, and the story.

If it's too good to be true, I sigh, and walk away.

I think I might have missed some bargains over the years that way.
I'm sure that I've missed a load of grief.
