We have been trying to apply for a savings account for my wife. We are both 50. Have no debts. However my wife keeps getting rejected because she has no credit file ?
We registered with noddle and they inform us that they do not have sufficient information to form a credit file for my wife
The weird thing is we have a joint account, she has savings account and a credit card in her name.We have lived in the same place for 10 years.I suppose all the utilities are in my name.
Has anyone else come across this before

Not sure it's normal to be credit checked for a savings account, ID check maybe.
What account is it? Is she on electoral roll?
Have you checked Clearscore and MSE Credit club?0 -
It was with Atom, and Ford bank. New challenger banks. This apparently is their process to verify identity to cut down costs. Yes we are on electoral role0

Must be failing on the ID check somewhere0

Has she checked with all three CRAs?0

She will have one, maybe a thin file.
Do check all 3 agencies though.0 -

IIRC when you sign up they ask you a bunch of multiple choice questions about things on your credit file, to prove you are who you say you are.
I've never heard of it, but there may not be enough in her credit file that they could determine that safely enough.0
