Missing FPS money

Options
I withdrew some money from Paypal two weeks ago, it's usually very fast and I quickly noticed it hadn't appeared in my bank.
Paypal have finally come back to me saying the money was transferred to my bank on 18/3 via FPS and have given me a lengthy 'FPID' reference to give to my bank.
When I called my bank (Clydesdale) they were completely disinterested in even taking the reference and just said "no payments received from Paypal"
I'm now completely stuck, can anyone assist? :(

Complain to Clydesdale, giving them the FPID. Tell them how dissatisfied you are with the service you received when you raised the matter of the missing payment with them.

I don't know how PayPal operates with regard to fraud detection but if they are anything like the banks, there is always a possibility that they may intercept outgoing payments for investigation and their CS staff may be unaware that this has happened. (That happened to me with an HSBC outgoing payment I tried to make).

That said, two weeks is a long time to hold a payment without contacting you to see if it is genuine.

Simple question, but are you 100% certain you sent it to Clydesdale?

Same account details as I've used for years with Paypal.
I've lodged a complaint with Clydesdale.
Paypal say the FPID reference is raised when Clydesdale accept the payment, so are very firmly blaming the bank.

If an FPID is created when a Faster Payment actually reaches the destination bank then, yes, it sounds fair enough to blame the bank. Part of me wonders whether the FPID is raised to say 'Yes we will take the payment. Here is an ID to quote when you actually clear it'. I say that because some Faster Payments can take a day or so to actually clear despite the FPID being generated at the time it is entered by the user.

    Good luck with your complaint.

Strictly speaking it's for PayPal to investigate as it only becomes CB's problem once they accept the funds.

Sounds like they've been rejected by CB and returned to Paypal somewhere - since it's not an actual bank, Paypal will use third party providers for most functions.
