The Flexplus worldwide travel insurance is a decent product. Last year when me and my OH were hospitalised we were with Co-Op who wouldn't cover us for the undiagnosed pre existing conditions.
We started hunting round for insurance (even with specialist companies) and no one would cover us until I rang Nationwide as a last resort. £100 each extra to cover us without any hassle at all.
I've been a customer with NW since 1985 and have been completely happy with them as a bank (BS).
The only issue I've had was when our local branch closed and I now have to travel 5 miles into Sheffield if I want to go into branch but I can't remember the last time I needed to do that.0 -

The other side of the coin here for sure - long term Nationwide customer (not saying HOW long as it makes me feel old just thinking about it!) started with a FlexAccount and have since switched it to a FlexDirect - we have a standard FlexAccount for joint expenses and currently both have regular savers too although obviously it will be the last time for each of those, unless they reintroduce something else at some stage. I have periodically thought about changing, but on every occasion the very fact that I like the fact that NW are a building society not a bank, and that their customer service is excellent makes me decide to stay. We also like the ease of having various "savings pots" for different areas of expenditure and being able to switch money between them easily, and the "legacy" travel insurance and cashback credit card are added bonuses.
Not everyone in here is chasing every last 0.1% in interest - sometimes other considerations come as high, or higher in the priorities - and it's not fair to assume naivity in all cases.
For the longer term savings for which we require higher interest, we look elsewhere - for day to day banking, we'll stick with NW for the moment, at least.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Hi there - trawling MSE to see if anyone's had experience of savings pots with Nationwide, when I saw the post above by @EssexHebridean. Just wondering if this is still possible to do, as our son wants to stay with Nationwide (local branch in town is open on Saturday mornings, and he has good relationship with them). Any information gratefully received, as I haven't been able to find anything on their website.Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0
