Another claim question
October 19th 2018 I was knocked off and run over by a vehicle whilst I was waiting to turn right (vehicle didn't spot me and pulled out of junction also turning right), I sustained soft tissue damage and a few scars around my left ankle and lower leg
Third party has been to court, pleaded guilty, also had an invalid license and no mot at the time of the accident
28th March my solicitor has just sent forward an initial claim of £6000 and has valued the claim within £3000-£4000 which I believe is reasonable
My question is how long will it take until we hear back from the third parties insurance company? (NFU MUTUAL) what will there likely counter offer be? And realistically how long will it take until a settlement has been made?
I've asked my solicitor but no response
Thanks all

Took me best part of 20 months to get payout for a cast iron case (driver went through a give way on a roundabout straight into me and was prosecuted)

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Was that 20 months from the date of incident? That seems ridiculous, and I've received a response which has been said it's likely to be another 2-4 weeks until our offer is accepted, rejected or a counter offer is made
Solicitor is using letters, why aren't they using emails it'll be so much quicker and efficient 😂0 -

Yes from incident date
Lots of evidence and photos, documentation. They choose to use letters to do it all formally even if comms with the client are email. Took them ages to make the offer, then we went back with a counter and took that long for the cheque - they argued to the last about an £18 receipt for a ride I couldn't do because of the injury.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

The last £18 what a joke, when trying to find answers to my questions online it kept coming back with 'how long after an offer has been accepted will I receive my settlement and the answers were constantly between 14-28 days, but many people are saying it actually takes months if not years

Look at it like this, assuming your bills were covered and you didn't lose money as a result of the accident (e.g. lost wages), then the compensation amount is money you don't have so you're not losing out

The other side will drag it out as long as possible as it’s in their interests to do that.
Are you using a solicitor from an insurance policy or (for want of a better word) an ambulance chase?
Your solicitor could threaten to take them to court but it all takes effort hence my question of how they are motivated.
I think the answer is that it can take a long time and a lot longer than you would want to get closure.0 -
Using a no win no fee solicitor so it's in there best interest aswell to get it sorted sooner rather than later0

You can ask them for interim payments to cover things like treatment and lost earnings. Stuff that they are unlikely to argue about.0
