What should I check?

Options
Hi,
Sorry for what I know is a likely basic question!

I moved house last month, and changed my address on my driving licence. It seemed to take ages to come - my partner applied for his two weeks later and it arrived in 3 days. I contacted the DVLA who said it had been sent three weeks earlier - they sent a replacement which I have.

I’m nervous that a licence is somewhere in the world with my new address on it and to be safe want to monitor my credit file for a while to see if there is any activity.

Which is the right one?

I have an online data check already, but there seems to be a lot of different places to check and if anyone can recommend what I should do I’d be very thankful!

Thanks!

You need to check all the data in your credit files with the three CRAs for accuracy. You also need to make sure you change the address for all your credit accounts. Don't forget to sign up to the Electoral Register at your new home.

The free reports from the CRAs are available from:
    • MSE Credit Club = Experian
    • Clearscore = Equifax
    • Noddle = TransUnion

They will have your name address and date of birth. The driving licence will also have a photograph of you so it would be difficult, but not impossible, for somebody to present the licence as proof of ID.
Simply knowing your name, address and date of birth will not really help a fraudster too much as there is other information which would be required to obtain credit in your name at your address and any applications would probably fail.
You say that you already have an online data check. Can you explain a bit more exactly what an online data check is please?
If you want to monitor your credit files for a while you will need to do so with each of the 3 CRA's. (see above reply)
  • That’s great - I’m on it. Already registered to vote - I do like to have my say!!

    Thank you!
  • The online check is a Data Patrol thing to check my details aren’t being used online.

It was a thing BA gave me for a year when they lost all their customer data last year. It’s supposed to help monitor online activity for your key details.
