If I put an audio CD in either drive it won't recognise it. It will recognise a DVD & play it. In device manager it shows that both drives are working OK. Any advice please? thanks

I'd google for CDgone - just as a shot in the dark.
Firmware upgrade?
You have enabled it in the bios? - probably a very stupid question but sometimes xp sees things that are not enabled, but they just don't work.
Are there not two lasers in the unit one for cd an one for dvd as wiki says "DVD uses 650 nm wavelength laser diode light as opposed to 780 nm for CD" and the cd one has died?GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time.
