My late father's PPI

Dad died recently. I don't think he ever checked whether he'd had PPI but I understand from Martin's advice that it is possible to reclaim PPI on behalf of someone who has died. Dad had mortgages from the mid 1970s until around 2005 but I have no paperwork to go on. I don't even know which lenders he had his mortgages with. He may have had the odd loan or two during his lifetime too but I've nothing to go on. Can I still claim? Would prefer not to use a claim handler as I've done my own PPI reclaims using Resolver, but without anything to go on, how do I go about checking whether Dad had PPI? Grateful for any advice you can give - I know time is running out before 29 August. Without any documentation, how would I begin? I would use a claims handler if it's impossible to do it myself.

You would need to make a complaint, rather than a claim.
It sounds unlikely he had PPI given the dates and the regulation dates, but if you feel you have a mis selling complaint, call any lenders you think he had it with.
However, remember that you need to give mis selling complaints. Do you know why he was mis sold these policies, if indeed he had them?
Under no circumstances use a claims handler, as you will need to provide them with all the information about your father's accounts so they can post your forms for you.
If you have the information, you can post it yourself.0 -

not only that but most mortgages in the UK are bought via estate agents, advisers and brokers. Not directly with the lender. So, even if you knew the lender, you would need to find out who arranged it. And estate agents, brokers/advisers were not regulated until Jan 2005. He had finished by then. Can I still claim?
1 - you dont know if he had PPI
2 - you dont know who he bought it from
3 - you havent mentioned any missale reasons that may exist.I would use a claims handler if it's impossible to do it myself.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). You also need to provide very factual complaint reasons when complaining on behalf of a deceased person, so (for example) you'd be unable to complain about anything he was told face-to-face unless you were there.
All-in-all you face an uphill battle in any pursuit of this...0
