I should have put get instead of buy a card, that’s true. I still feel your original post was misleading for an inexperienced person.

Anyway, hopefully the Op successfully got some euros.

Have you checked availability using the MoneySavingExpert.com site?

As above if you are not using Monzo, Revolut or Starling then simply use this link to find the best place to get them from and how much they will cost. Simples.

I don't think I would want a 14 year old wandering around with 300 Euros or so in cash. I would start them off with 50 Euros or so and a card to withdraw more as and when needed.
  • I have to give the money to the teachers who will look after it and give him as needed.

    Thanks

Sainsbury’s money normally good to exchange using your nectar card. I transferred gbp into euros about a month ago and they gave a good rate.
In future get a Revolut card.. free cash withdrawals and you can use it to pay for everything, with no charges

So the teachers have to carry, probably, thousands of Euros around? I'm astounded and as an ex-teacher I don't think I would have agreed to do this.

I think what generally happens is that the teachers would put the money in hotel safe and hand out an amount daily to each student.

I agree it's a big responsibility for teachers but it's done so that each 14 year old doesn't have to carry £250 around with them and it also helps them budget daily.:money:
  • Not sure how to put new post, so under the heading of "Buying Euro's" thought everyone might be interested in a site I found which offers good rates: https://www.money.co.uk/travel-money/best-euro-exchange-rate.htm

    Hope it helps
