Don't think you will get any cheaper flights but if you look on https://www.wired-destinations.com I think they have cheaper hotel deals than £53

I know but as I said, casing the place out, meeting some friends and hoping to meet with some job agencies/arrange some interviews (fingers crossed!)

It will be unbearably hot at that time, but if you're thinking of moving there then it's probably best to see if you can cope with the temperature before you make the commitment. My folks live in Qatar and it's far too hot from June to September.
