O/S Daily Monday 1 April 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, and those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and getting ready for work as is DS1, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and doing ok.

Now getting light, dry underfoot but temperature has dropped. I have a wash load that I'll peg out before I go to work, as the weather doesn't look so good from tomorrow.

Lunch yesterday was roast chicken, roasties, mash, carrots, cauli/broc cheese, peas, swede, yorkshires and gravy. Dinner tonight will be fish, chips/jacket potato and beans/veg.

Back to work today, it will be busy as it always is on 1 April, so hoping the day flies past.

Yesterday was just a chill day, visited my mum as she'd been out when we went on Saturday, she liked her Mothers Day gifts.

Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks NMLC for starting.

It's not quite light yet, and frosty, I'm sure it'll warm up.

I hope everyone had a good day yesterday, nothing much happened here. A bit of housework, Dh went over to the caravan again, and I made a roast lamb dinner, it was lovely. Roasts are a fairly rare occurrence now, at one stage in our lives we had a roast every Sunday.

I'm planning to make a card for great niece's wedding in May, so I've started looking for ideas - there's some lovely stuff on Pinterest. I'll just keep thinking, and looking at stuff, till I've worked something out.

Today is our book group meeting in the library, but before that I've got to take my lame hearing aid to Sp*csavers - hope they can do something, I'm sick of being deaf on one side.

Hope everyone has as good a day as they can.

    Take care folks

This clocks going forward / back always puts my body clock out for a few days and I struggle to adjust I really wish they would leave it alone and just let nature do its own thing.

  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The sun is shining but cooler temps are forecast for this week. Heating on for half an hour just to take the chill off.

No plans for today but I really should defrost the big freezer as it's looking in desperate need of it. I have managed to keep it tidy since the last time I sorted it! Maybe because stocks are going down at last.

DD and the girls are calling after school as they were at their dad's this w/e and they have some cards they want to give me. Albeit a day late!

Not much in the way of cooking to do today. Lunch will be the usual hm soup and a bagel and tonight gammon and warmed up veg left over from yesterday.

Have a nice day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. How you doing HOLLY? SILVER-OLDIE special ((BIG HUG)) for you after the disappointment of yesterday. Take care all xx

    Morning everyone,

Still here and reading along, I hurt my back on Friday night helping DOH move some furniture ahead of getting a new sofa delivered early doors on Saturday and it’s still very painful :( I am alternating paracetamol and ibuprofen for the pain and have found some exercises to do as it seems best to try and get moving. It’s my own fault so feel a tad stupid as well.
Love to all, thinking of Holly and other poorlies, hugs to SO especially and pleased to read that Gers DM is home.

Have a good day folks x

    Good morning,

Happy Monday, happy April and happy brighter mornings!!

I opted for a quiet weekend, focused mostly around sport on the TV and doing some exercise myself. Meal prep for the week is done although I seem to have missed some items which I'll need to get today at lunch.

Disappointed that I couldn't see my DM yesterday but I sent her a bouquet of flowers from a local florist and a card. She sent me a picture of the flowers and as usual, they were lovely, so I don't mind the expense.

In work sharpish, with a blank canvas in font of me today but I'm sure I'll fill that diary up with things to be getting on with. Yoga tonight, too.

Scarlet - Pinterest can be dangerously addictive and there's tons of great idea's on there. Have fun!
Lainey - What about some painkiller gel?

    Morning

Back to cold and dark mornings again :( Really wish they would just leave well alone.

Had a really productive day on my bathroom yesterday seems I have spent far too much time giving it a lick and a promise so whilst it looked ok on the surface lurking beneath was not such good news. Still have the shower to finish whilst all the bits were having an overnight stay in some white vinegar. May try to finish that off today but need to crack on with work and have 2 of the dreaded webcam conferences.

Need to nip to restock the cleaning stocks so will head to Aldi or B+M ...blinkers needed to avoid a trolley full

Food wise I have grabbed out some sausages so will cook those off later and have a couple with mash and beans :o Also found some pea and ham soup so thats lunch sorted.

Right time to crack on have a good day all

Morning! Woke up fairly early considering, it's mostly been a good weekend, but i am tired after it. The quiz was a hit, we came third, which is the highest we've ever been and considering it was me, my father, sister and OH means we must have more than a brain cell between us. Normally, we're about sixth...

Will be getting the pressure washer out to clean a door I wombled to make a table for out the back, it's an old fashioned door with the zeds on the back, so really sturdy, I just have to put legs on it. Or instruct OH how to put legs on it.
Will also get out my current sewing to try and keep up with missed lessons. The teacher is not well again, sometimes I think illness is wasted on the wrong people. and I can't decide if some people would be the way they are in spite of being ill, or whether being ill has brought out the best in them, but I would wave a wand for some people if I could and I'm leaning towards the former.

SO, hope your day goes well, maybe you shoud share your disappointment with them, and ask is there a particular reason that they don't visit expecially when they live so close. Scarlet, hope they can sort out you hearing aid. Lainey, commiserations on the bad back. Speky, how's your gran doing these days? OL, someone came in with a snake? how random! made me laugh, although I doubt I'd be laughing if I'd been there..Morning Nelski, I think my bathroom upstairs has been having a lick and a promise for over 40 years...good luck with the video stuff, I hate looking at myself in mirrors, so one of those would be crucifying...
Wotcha people not posting for whatever reason, hope you're all doing as well as can be expected.
    Marvelous Monday!
