Ex husbands debt
Hi all I'm new here ๐๐๐
When my soon to be ex husband left in July last year he left a large outstanding gas bill (as well as rent but that's cleared now).
When I contacted the gas company (utility warehouse) to change the supply to my name, they told me that I had to take the debt on as my own.
Is this right? I understand being liable for some of it but can he really get away scot free?
Thanks if you've taken the time to read my essay ๐

Of course, otherwise wives & husbands would constantly be transferring the account to the other one, saying they've left.0

Same as the rent really. You were living there and using the energy so.... yes. You're jointly and severally liable for the energy use.0
