Is there a guide on MSE for investing in shares?

I'm non-UK resident so cannot open a stocks and shares ISA. I've built up a chunky cash pile (high 6 figures) and would like to invest a lot of it in a tracker fund. Is there a guide somewhere on this site as to the best value investment platform? I found something for stocks and shares ISAs but nothing broader. If not here, any suggestions for where else to look?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

The best value depends on a number of factors such as sums involved and trading frequency to mention a couple. You might find these links helpful bearing in mind that you may find trouble being non-UK resident

Thanks! I'll take a look. That's a very helpful response. I am a UK citizen with a UK address so hopefully can get an account open somewhere. My plan is to chuck something like £10 - £25k / month into various investments over the next couple of years. I'm 39 and my plan is to build up a long term (like 20 year plus) fund.
I think a global crash is imminent, so am hoping that this strategy is more sensible than chucking several hundred £'s in on day 1 and risking taking a bit hit! Perhaps.0 -
So lets say over the next 2 years you put 25k a month into a global tracker until you have 600k plus growth. Lets say at that point you still think there is an imminent crash. Do you take it all back out? Stay invested? If it is a long term plan you will likely have to live through several small and large crashes, including times when that means you could drop over a million, considering the numbers you are talking about.
Work out your risk level, decide a percentage split between equities and bonds (or cash), and then invest it all.0
